The Fuller Warren Bridge is part of the I-95 Interstate corridor that runs through downtown Jacksonville all the way to Miami. I’ve taken that route many times! I chose to depict the bridge from the vantage point of the Cummer Museum of Art’s amazing Versailles-like gardens just south of the bridge. I thought that by framing the bridge with tree branches while focusing on the arched supports of the bridge and the river below would create a strong aesthetic. I also added the ‘suggestion’ of an additional parallel lane that is being added to the Fuller Warren to connect the north and south banks of the river—facilitating a safe crossing for pedestrians, dogs, bikers and strollers. I welcome that.
