There is always a great deal of activity on, through and under the Acosta Bridge in downtown Jacksonville. The train trestle bridge, built in 1925, fascinates me. I love its rusty steel struts. It runs alongside and contrasts visually with the streamlined design of the Acosta Bridge and is fully functional for trains passing through Jacksonville. Cars travel on the often decoratively lit-up bridge deck rails above while boats and kayaks navigate the St. Johns River below. From a certain vantage point along the Riverwalk on the Northbank, one can marvel at seeing the Acosta Bridge, the Hart Bridge and the Main Street Bridge all at once.
