In the late 1990’s the Tacoma Arts Commission dispensed handguns from a Tacoma Police ‘Buy-Back’ Program to artists, with the intention of inspiring creative transformation of something destructive into something positive and artistic. I don’t think the project ever materialized but in 2001 I was invited to participate in an exhibition at the St. Louis Gateway to Peace Museum and I was able to bring my concept to fruition.
